Facebook Business Manager is a free Facebook tool that helps organise and manage your business assets, e.g. Facebook ad accounts, Pages, apps and permissions in one place.

Your Business Manager is a central space to manage your business, separate from your personal Facebook profile. You don’t have to worry about mixing your business and personal content.

Business Manager helps advertisers integrate Facebook marketing efforts across their business and with external partners. You can use this free platform to:

  • Run and track your ads
  • Manage assets such as your Pages and ad accounts
  • Add an agency or marketing partner to help manage your business

Some things to note:

  • You need a Facebook profile to create a Business Manager account.
  • Use your Facebook username and password to sign in to Business Manager. 
  • You can only create two Business Manager accounts. If you need more, please work with someone else in your organisation to create additional Business Manager accounts.
  • Small to large businesses use Business Manager to organise their business assets and information in one place. You can use Business Manager to control your Facebook assets and make sure that the right people have the correct access.

How to Create a Facebook Business Manager

  • Go to business.facebook.com/
  • Click Create account.
  • Login with your existing Facebook account.
  • Enter a name for your business, your name and work email address and click Next.
  • Enter your business details and click Submit.

As you can see below, you can now manage the following from the business manager:

  • Ads Manager: for advertising
  • Events manager: for website activity and conversion tracking
  • Facebook Analytics
  • Business Settings
  • Billing and Payments

Add an Ad Account to Business Manager

  • Go to Business Settings
  • Select Accounts and click Ad accounts.
  • Click + Add.
  • Choose one of the three options: Add ad accountRequest access to an ad account or Create a new ad account.
  • If you choose to request access or add an ad account, enter the ad account ID.
  • Follow the prompts to select people and access levels.

Add a Facebook Page Business Manager

When you add a Facebook Page to your Business Manager, you’re claiming ownership of the Page.

  • To add a Page, you must also have been an admin on the Page for more than seven days.
  • The Page you’re trying to add can’t be owned by another person or business. Each Page can only be owned by one business.
  • If your Page is linked to an Instagram business account, you should also add your Instagram business account to your Business Manager. 

Take these steps to add a Facebook Page

  • Go to Business Settings
  • Below Accounts, click Pages.
  • Click + Add.
  • Select Add a Page.
  • Enter the Facebook Page name or URL.

Note: Anyone who had access to the Page before it was added to Business Manager will still be able to access and manage the Page.

Add an Instagram profile

  • To add an Instagram business account to your Business Manager, you must have the username and password for the account.
  • The Instagram business account you’re trying to add can’t be owned by another business. Instagram business accounts can only be claimed by one Business Manager.

  1. Go to Business Settings.
  2. Click Accounts.
  3. Select Instagram accounts.
  4. Click + Add.
  5. Enter your Instagram username and password. Click Next.
  6. Select the ad accounts and Pages that you’d like to assign and click Next.

Now that you’ve added your Instagram business account to your Business Manager, you can add partners. Select the Instagram account and select Add peopleAssign partners or Add assets.
